Learn to earn! Having good English, Maths and ICT skills is vital for gaining access to apprenticeships, employment and college. At Camden Jobtrain, you will have the opportunity to gain qualifications in English, Maths and ICT while working towards your vocational qualification.
Our English, Maths and ICT classes will allow you to develop skills which can be used in work and beyond!
All learners who join the course are required to take an English/Maths and ICT initial diagnostic. From this assessment, the Functional Skills team are able to highlight areas for support and help you to work towards your qualification. All learners take a Functional Skills qualification which is recognised by employers and industry.
THE THREE FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
Functional English:
- Practise reading and writing skills in real-life situations related to your vocational area
- Develop speaking and listening skills through discussions, both formal and informal
- Strengthen spelling, punctuation and grammar
- Improve confidence in all the above areas
Functional Maths:
- Learn how maths will help you at work
- Develop confidence in using a range of methods and techniques
- Use the maths you know to solve problems
Functional ICT:
- Feel confident using computers
- Use ICT to find and select information
All classes are taught by our in-house Functional Skills team who work closely with your vocational team to make your learning relevant and engaging. Alongside our Functional Skills classes, we also have an in-house dyslexia coordinator to provide support.
