Personal & Social Development (PSD)

The PSD Programme at Camden Jobtrain offers the opportunity for young people to develop personal and social skills needed for learning and work.

Young people have an opportunity to work towards a City and Guilds Level 1 Award and Certificate in Employability and Personal Development. The qualification is accessible to the widest range of learners and emphasises the personal skills, qualities and attitudes required by employers across all vocational sectors. Skills such as team work and time management highlight ways of working more effectively and are vital in today's competitive labour market.

The aims of the programme are to meet the needs of young people who wish to seek, gain and retain employment or progress to further learning. Young people will have an opportunity to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment by following a programme that includes:

  • Planning for Progression
  • Effective skills, qualities and attitudes needed for learning and work
  • Career planning and making applications
  • Rights and responsibilities in the workplace
  • Valuing equality and diversity

Additionally, the Personal and Social Development element of the programme ensures young people are fully able to access important advice, guidance and information on a wide range of issues from nutrition and healthy eating to sexual health, drugs and alcohol education. Camden Jobtrain has developed close links with specialist providers that offer support to young people on a one to one and group basis. These include:
